Two on the Rock
Two sea lions hauled out on a dark, seaweed-covered rock near Anacortes.
Two sea lions hauled out on a dark, seaweed-covered rock near Anacortes. One faces left; the other is tucked behind.
The rock is almost black. The animals are brown-grey against it. There is not much sky — the frame is about the haul-out, not a seascape.
Sea lions and seabirds both show up around Anacortes. In the site and social order they are kept apart on purpose so the feed does not run mammal-then-bird from the same place.
Low angle, waiting for both animals to settle.

Long lens from shore. Shutter fast enough for a head turn. The dark rock needed careful exposure so the animals did not silhouette completely.
